rock my world

necklace by Eugenia on Etsy. Isn't it wild? I love how unique it is with all the rocks all gathered together at the bottom. My husband says that I haven't been posting much of my own work. Which is true because I haven't had much time to be very creative lately :(. Maybe sometime soon though! Happy Tuesday!

new...

necklaces will be in the etsy shop soon! The combination of vintage chain and upcycled accent pieces made these fun to work on. I usually second guess and make a ton of revisions, but I just went with my instincts on these ones.

fortune

I am loving Fortune by Kim Dulaney's jewelry creations! I just discovered her etsy shop the other day and she has a wonderful collection of one of a kind or small quantity necklaces, bracelets and earrings. The jewelry is made of rare and vintage materials, so each one is very unique and eclectic. Gorgeous!

building blocks

A couple of shots of what I get to start the jewelry making process with: pieces that are unwanted or are missing a stone or a bead, an earring that's lost it's match...yet they still have so much to offer. I love seeing the random pieces, imagining what they used to be or look like or who wore them or the places they've been.

new earrings

I just finished these the other day and am loving the color combination with the antique brassy/gold color. It's always a fun process to take apart old jewelry and put it together in a new unique way. Hopefully sometime soon I can put together a before and after post of what old pieces I took apart and reassembled to make into something new.
Happy Wednesday!

in my home: jewelry

With hazy morning conditions I decided to take some photos of two necklaces I have made and saved for my personal jewelry stash. Trying to build up an inventory on etsy has made it hard to keep anything for myself but I have held on to these two at least.

how time flies

I can't believe another week has flown by and artistically speaking I don't have a whole lot to show for it. My sewing project is inching towards completion but not a whole lot besides that has been accomplished. Below are some images I put together of jewelry pieces for sale in my etsy shop. These are all necklaces made from a mix of new and recycled materials. For the most part the only new parts are the findings (clasps, wire, rings, etc.) So finding beads like those chunky amber concoctions is always a treat!

WARM SUMMER SUN

These ones remind me of orange sherbet, popsicles and sitting in the hot summer sun. If only it would come out here! It's June gloom time :(

COOL BLUE WATER

These pieces remind me of lazy pool days, ocean waves & floating down the river. Check out the full jewelry collection, plus some other home items too at: http://www.etsy.com/shop/beckleydesign

Happy Tuesday! :)

freshwater pearls

Work has been eating up all my extra creative time so I don't have much to show for myself for this week. However, I did get to play with some freshwater pearls for a work project. Usually when I think of pearls I picture the perfectly round, uniform ones. But I love that each of these is so individual and unique!

necklace collection

The other day I took some photos of the beckley design necklace collection. It was fun seeing them all together, the different styles, materials and sizes. Supplies are abundant right now so I hope to be adding some earrings and bracelets soon-maybe even a watch or two! Check out the full collection at beckley design on etsy.

what a process

Saturday was a wonderful quiet day and I finally got a chance to put together some new jewelry for my etsy store. As much as it might seem like making jewelry is easy, it is quite a long process when you are taking apart vintage or broken jewelry, cleaning it and sorting it out. Then I start looking at what might go together (colors, styles, shapes, sizes), lay it out and let it sit for a bit. Add in a little internet perusal for inspiration. I'll usually change it at least twice before I finally put it together. The process is so interesting and creative but it can take forever! Head over to my etsy shop this week to see what made the final cut!

Found this lovely collection in my www ramblings. Reverie is by Alison Woodward, a NY jewelry designer (you may have seen her line in Anthropologie). It's beautiful!

sorted by color

I was getting ready to make some jewelry this weekend when I realized that I may have some obsessive compulsive tendencies. I organize everything by color: my beads, the clothes and shoes in my closet...the other day I even rearranged the icons on my computer by color.

bit of blue

Love this new necklace! Finally had time to sneak in some creativity! Watch for it coming soon in my etsy shop!

new necklaces

This week's project was putting together some new necklaces which will be in my etsy shop shortly. The majority of my pieces are combinations of recycled bracelets, earrings, pins, necklaces, bits of chain, etc. Working with a finite set of supplies (colors, shapes, quantities) challenges me by it's innate limitations. Sometimes things just seem to work perfectly together. But other times I have to tuck away a few special beads or a great old pin, saving them until I find their as yet unknown complement.

some new projects

Here are some photos of what I have been working on in the jewelry department. They are made almost entirely of recycled materials. Enjoy!
