I am loving Fortune by Kim Dulaney's jewelry creations! I just discovered her etsy shop the other day and she has a wonderful collection of one of a kind or small quantity necklaces, bracelets and earrings. The jewelry is made of rare and vintage materials, so each one is very unique and eclectic. Gorgeous!

With hazy morning conditions I decided to take some photos of two necklaces I have made and saved for my personal jewelry stash. Trying to build up an inventory on etsy has made it hard to keep anything for myself but I have held on to these two at least.

how time flies

I can't believe another week has flown by and artistically speaking I don't have a whole lot to show for it. My sewing project is inching towards completion but not a whole lot besides that has been accomplished. Below are some images I put together of jewelry pieces for sale in my etsy shop. These are all necklaces made from a mix of new and recycled materials. For the most part the only new parts are the findings (clasps, wire, rings, etc.) So finding beads like those chunky amber concoctions is always a treat!

The other day I took some photos of the beckley design necklace collection. It was fun seeing them all together, the different styles, materials and sizes. what a process

Saturday was a wonderful quiet day and I finally got a chance to put together some new jewelry for my etsy store. As much as it might seem like making jewelry is easy, it is quite a long process when you are taking apart vintage or broken jewelry, cleaning it and sorting it out. Then I start looking at what might go together (colors, styles, shapes, sizes), lay it out and let it sit for a bit. Add in a little internet perusal for inspiration. I'll usually change it at least twice before I finally put it together. The process is so interesting and creative but it can take forever! new necklaces

This week's project was putting together some new necklaces which will be in my etsy shop shortly. The majority of my pieces are combinations of recycled bracelets, earrings, pins, necklaces, bits of chain, etc. Working with a finite set of supplies (colors, shapes, quantities) challenges me by it's innate limitations. Sometimes things just seem to work perfectly together. But other times I have to tuck away a few special beads or a great old pin, saving them until I find their as yet unknown complement.

recycled candles

Today's creative project snuck in after working and cleaning the house and right before making dinner. I have been saving up old candles for quite some time waiting for today to arrive. 

Combining different scents and colors of old used up candles (does vanilla go better with pumpkin or coconut?), melting them down on the stove and then pouring them into small glass bowls that I had saved just for this occasion was messier than anticipated, but still just what I needed. Today's batch was Vanilla Spice-if only you could smell them!
